Agness “Aggybaby” Kahamba wins 2025 best African Actress Award

Dar es Salaam — In a landmark recognition of her artistic and social contributions, Tanzanian actress and musician Agness Suleiman Kahamba, popularly known as Aggybaby, has been honoured with the 2025 Best Female Actor Award by Achievers Awards International in Nigeria.

The accolade celebrates her outstanding performances in television and film particularly in productions of Panguso, Huba and her YouTube-streamed dramas, as well as her philanthropic work through her nonprofit, Tupaze Sauti Foundation.

Organizers of the award highlighted that Aggybaby’s work has generated growing interest in Tanzanian storytelling, especially in Nigeria, where they view her career as vivid showcases of Tanzanian culture, unity, and African dignity. 

In her remarks, Agness noted that the judges were impressed by her acting role in Kombolela, which effectively project values, identity and pan-African perspectives.

On Monday, October 13, 2025, Dr. Gervas Kasiga (PhD), Chief Executive Officer of the Tanzania Film Board, met with the actress in Dar es Salaam to felicitate her on the achievement. 

Dr. Kasiga lauded her contributions to elevating Tanzanian cinema on the global stage and encouraged her to persist in her craft with fresh creativity, discipline and professionalism.

The award underscores the deepening film collaboration between Tanzania and Nigeria and affirms the growing international recognition of Tanzanian artists
