African tax leaders to meet in Algeria to strengthen domestic revenue systems

Pretoria, South Africa

The African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) will hold its 2025 Annual Meetings in Algiers, Algeria, from 3 to 7 November, hosted by Algeria’s Direction Générale des Impôts.

Under the theme “Embracing efficient and targeted approaches to equitable tax systems,” the forum will convene tax officials, policymakers, and international experts to explore ways to enhance compliance and mobilise domestic resources.

Sessions will examine how Africa can respond to challenges such as demographic change, digitalisation, and labour mobility, which affect national tax bases.

Delegates are expected to discuss strategies to tax hard-to-reach groups, including high-net-worth individuals and informal sector operators, while addressing illicit financial flows, beneficial ownership transparency, and mechanisms for preventing tax disputes.

The meetings also aim to position African countries to play a stronger role in shaping global tax governance and international cooperation frameworks.

ATAF has invited member countries and stakeholders to register for participation.
