Zanzibaris urged to put national interests above party lines

Campaign Manager for ACT Wazalendo’s presidential candidate, Ismail Jussa, has called on all Zanzibaris, regardless of political affiliation, faith, or ideology, to prioritize national interests by supporting Othman Masoud in the upcoming October 29 general election.

Addressing thousands of residents at Mwera Grounds, Jussa said the moment calls for unity, not partisan division.

“This is a time to decide Zanzibar’s future, not to focus on party loyalty. We must choose leaders who can deliver fairness, justice, and prosperity for all,” he said.

Jussa described ACT Wazalendo as the only party with a clear vision, ethical leadership, and concrete plans to lift citizens from economic and social challenges.

“We are campaigning for a Zanzibar that offers dignity, employment, quality education, and accessible healthcare for every citizen,” he added.

At the rally, Jussa also raised concerns over alleged corruption in the sale of seven historic Stone Town houses.

He claimed the properties were transferred to the King of Morocco without following legal procedures. Forty-one families living in the houses were reportedly relocated and compensated USD 10,000 each (about TZS 25 million), while large sums remained unaccounted for.

Jussa said one individual allegedly collected TZS 3 billion from the transaction, calling it a blatant act of theft and a reflection of a broken system ACT Wazalendo seeks to reform.

“This shows Zanzibar needs real change. Citizens must stand firm and elect leaders with integrity,” Jussa stressed. He urged Zanzibaris to “say enough is enough” and restore Zanzibar’s dignity through their vote for Othman Masoud.

The rally attracted party leaders, youth, elders, and women waving banners promoting hope, change, and national unity.
