Yanga SC eye group stage with high-scoring return

Young Africans SC (Yanga) are determined to storm into the CAF Champions League group stage in style, with a mission to score more goals when they host Weliete in the return leg at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam this September 26.

Speaking after Yanga’s convincing 3-0 win in the first leg, the club’s Media and Communications Manager, Ally Kamwe, said the team is targeting a decisive qualification marked by an emphatic goal margin.

“Our goal is not just to qualify but to qualify with plenty of goals,” Kamwe said. “This will also help us collect more of the ‘Mama’s Goal’ bonuses provided by President Samia Suluhu Hassan.”

The initiative, introduced by the Head of State, rewards teams for every goal scored, adding extra motivation for Yanga to keep pushing forward.

Kamwe revealed that the upcoming home fixture will serve as both a test for the Angolan side and an opportunity for Yanga to extend their scoring record.

“Before the return leg, we have a league match which we will use to sharpen our scoring form. We are targeting at least TZS30 million from the bonuses. Already, from the away game, we earned TZS15 million,” he explained.

He applauded the technical bench, players, and the Yanga fraternity for their collective effort and support in securing the first-leg victory.

He also reserved special praise for head coach Romain Folz, whose tactical approach, he said, is shaping Yanga into a formidable side.

“Despite the congested schedule, we have successfully completed our first mission. Coach Folz is cooking something special and very soon, the impact will be felt,” Kamwe added with confidence.
