Tanzania’s enduring peace, patriotism, and strong moral values, laid by the nation’s founding leaders, remain the pillars of national unity and development, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has said.
Speaking on Friday, September 5, 2025, while representing President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan at the National Maulid Council in Korogwe District, Tanga Region, Majaliwa praised religious leaders for their role in promoting harmony across the country.
“Religious leaders have always partnered with the government to promote peace, condemn wrongdoing, and instill discipline in society. Their efforts help nurture a generation grounded in respect, unity, and patriotism,” he said.
Majaliwa also highlighted the spiritual guidance Maulid provides. “The life of the Prophet offers lessons in honesty, ethical living, and reliance on God in all aspects of life,” he said.
Tanzania’s Chief Mufti and Sheikh, Dr. Abubakar Zubeir bin Ali, called on imams nationwide to continue preaching peace in their communities.
“Peace is not optional. Everyone has a responsibility to safeguard it. Guide your congregations to reject acts that threaten national stability,” he said.
Alhaj Nuhu Jabir Mruma, Secretary-General of BAKWATA, stressed that peace is the foundation of development. “Our country’s progress rests on peace.
Without it, there can be no worship, no prosperity, and no meaningful growth. We urge all Tanzanians, especially as we approach the 2025 general elections, to value this God-given gift,” he said.
The Maulid Council, beyond its spiritual significance, served as a reminder that peace, unity, and moral leadership are central to Tanzania’s continued growth, social harmony, and democratic stability.
