Tanzania Prisons and Bandari women’s volleyball teams have stormed into the finals of the Tanzania Volleyball National League (TVNL), setting up what promises to be a thrilling championship clash at MwembeYanga grounds in Dar es Salaam.
Defending champions Tanzania Prisons booked their place in the final with a commanding straight-sets victory over KIUT, winning 3-0 in the second semifinal.
The win marked their second successive triumph in the knockout stages, underlining their determination to retain the national crown.
Bandari were equally dominant, sealing back-to-back wins that included a resounding 3-0 victory over Korosho Queens in their semifinal fixture. Their strong run ensures a highly competitive final as they prepare to face the holders.
Prisons head coach Fredy Mshangama attributed his team’s success to discipline and hard work on the court.
“The commitment of my players has been the key to our performance,” said Mshangama. “Our target was to reach the final, and we’ve achieved that. Now the focus is on defending our title.”
He admitted the path to the final had its challenges, especially with injuries affecting some players. However, he praised his squad for staying composed under pressure.
“The first semifinal was tough because every team was fighting for a place in the final. But my players showed maturity and delivered when it mattered most,” he added.
The stage is now set for an electrifying final between two of Tanzania’s strongest women’s volleyball sides.
Prisons will be looking to cement their dominance by winning back-to-back titles, while Bandari are aiming to dethrone the champions and claim the top prize.
