The Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) has stepped up efforts to promote workplace safety by organizing a comprehensive fire preparedness training for its staff in Dar es Salaam.
The session, held at the Kilimanjaro Hall at the Julius Nyerere International Trade Fair Grounds, was led by Assistant Inspector Prosper Majaliwa David from the Temeke Fire and Rescue Department.
He highlighted the increasing risks posed by electrical appliances and gas equipment, stressing that simple precautions can prevent major tragedies.
“Many fire incidents can be avoided if people are careful with how they purchase, install, and use electrical and gas devices,” Majaliwa noted, urging TanTrade employees to apply the same vigilance both at work and at home.
He further called on institutions to establish clear fire safety strategies, including evacuation procedures and regular safety drills, to minimize damage and protect lives in case of emergencies.
For TanTrade, the training was not only a learning exercise but also a reminder of its broader responsibility to ensure the safety of employees and visitors within its facilities.
By equipping staff with life-saving knowledge, the authority is aligning with national efforts to promote a culture of safety and disaster preparedness.
