Tanzania’s national football team, Taifa Stars, is set to kick off its 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign against Congo Brazzaville tomorrow in Congo.

The squad arrived in Congo yesterday and has been training intensively ahead of the crucial match, fine-tuning strategies and building team cohesion.

Speaking to The Respondent Online, former Yanga and Taifa Stars player Salvatory Edward expressed confidence in the team’s ability to perform.

He highlighted that most of the players featured in the recent CHAN tournament, with additional strength from those playing abroad, giving the squad valuable international experience.

“The team is strong and well-prepared. I believe they can achieve great results if they build on the momentum from CHAN. The coach has identified areas for improvement and has worked on strengthening the squad,” Edward said.

He stressed that success will depend on players’ dedication, patriotism, and adherence to the technical bench’s guidance, which will be crucial in achieving the team’s goals and delighting Tanzanians at home.

Edward also called on Tanzanians to unite in support, praying for the team and giving them strength and encouragement. “Our collective faith and backing can inspire the players to give their best on the field,” he said.
