PM Majaliwa to launch Geita mining technology exhibition

By Alfred Zacharia

Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa will officially open the 8th National Mining Technology Exhibition on Monday at the Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan Grounds in Bombambili, Geita Municipality. The event is expected to attract thousands of participants from across the country.

The exhibition is organized to showcase new mining technologies and connect key players in the industry. It provides a platform for miners, traders, processors, and investors to share knowledge and explore opportunities for growth. The event has become one of the most important annual gatherings for Tanzania’s mining sector.

Geita Regional Mining Officer, Samwel Shoo, explained today that the Mining Commission will take part for the eighth year in a row.

He said the Commission has prepared education sessions for visitors who will attend its pavilions. These sessions will focus on modern exploration, extraction, and processing methods.

According to him, the Commission aims to ensure that stakeholders understand the role of technology in improving efficiency and sustainability in the sector.

Shoo emphasized that the exhibition is not only about business but also about learning. He said small-scale, medium-scale, and large-scale miners will all benefit from exposure to new practices.

Investors will also have a chance to engage with government institutions and access information on the entire mineral value chain.

“There is a pavilion for the Ministry of Minerals and its agencies, including the Mining Commission,” Shoo said. “It is important for Tanzanians who want to invest in mining to visit and gain detailed knowledge about how the sector operates.”

The exhibition also highlights the link between mining and national development. By encouraging better use of technology, the event supports efforts to boost productivity and strengthen the economy. Shoo noted that responsible leadership and proper technology remain key factors for sustainable growth.

This year’s theme is: “Growth of the Mining Sector is the Result of Proper Technology and Good Leadership, Participate in the 2025 General Election.” The message reflects the need to combine innovation with governance while reminding citizens of their civic responsibility.

The exhibition is expected to run for several days, offering learning opportunities, business networking, and policy discussions.
