Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Elijah Mwandumbya, has urged revenue officers to improve non-tax revenue collection, stressing that efficient and transparent revenue management directly contributes to national development and better public services for citizens.

Speaking at the closing of a meeting for officers handling non-tax revenue at Kambarage Hall, Treasury Square, Dodoma, Mr. Mwandumbya called for strict adherence to laws, regulations, and guidelines, including timely submission of funds to the Government Consolidated Fund.

He emphasized professionalism, proper use of electronic systems such as the integrated control number, and cautioned against coercive practices or collecting fees without delivering the corresponding services.

“By ensuring transparency and efficiency in revenue collection, we foster a citizen-friendly environment that encourages voluntary compliance and enables the government to fund key development projects,” he said.

The meeting also focused on adopting modern strategies to enhance non-tax revenue collection, enabling the government to implement vital development projects while reducing reliance on foreign aid.
