The Ministry of Energy has reported a significant improvement in its overall performance, reaching 96.16% in the fourth quarter of the 2024/2025 fiscal year, up from 95% in the previous quarter.
The progress reflects ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery and advance national energy initiatives.
The announcement came during the Ministry’s Fifth Quarterly Performance Review Meeting in Dodoma, chaired by Permanent Secretary Engineer Felchesmi Mramba.
The review, conducted by the Ministry’s Monitoring and Evaluation Unit, assessed the efficiency and impact of projects implemented by the Ministry and its institutions.
Engineer Mramba highlighted that the improvement demonstrates tangible benefits for citizens.
“These performance reviews reflect the outcomes of our work. Service delivery has strengthened, and the Ministry continues to provide high-quality services to the public,” he said.
He specifically commended Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) for timely public communication, which has contributed to better service reliability.
Regional TANESCO offices in Manyara, Kinondoni South, and Simiyu were recognized for top performance, with no region scoring below 91.83%.
The Permanent Secretary also emphasized the Ministry’s clean cooking energy campaign, urging the use of social media to educate citizens about energy-efficient stoves that reduce electricity consumption.
“Social media is a powerful tool to reach citizens quickly, supporting the President’s vision for a transition from polluting cooking energy to clean alternatives,” Mramba explained.
The review acknowledged high-performing departments and units, including the Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy, the Procurement Unit, and the ICT Unit.
TANESCO, EWURA, and PBPA were identified as the best-performing institutions under the Ministry, demonstrating progress in governance, project execution, and public service delivery.
Deputy Permanent Secretary Dr. James Mataragio also praised the institutions and Ministry units for achieving positive results, noting the consistent upward trend in performance across the board.
The Monitoring and Evaluation Unit was lauded for its role in tracking progress and ensuring timely reporting, which enhances the effectiveness of Ministry initiatives.
The quarterly review meeting brought together heads of institutions, directors from various ministries, and regional TANESCO managers, providing a platform to share performance reports and strengthen accountability mechanisms.
The Ministry’s improved performance signals stronger institutional capacity, better services for citizens, and accelerated adoption of clean and sustainable energy solutions across Tanzania.
