The government on Thursday denied reports of a raid on the offices of online discussion platform Jamii Forums, saying officials were carrying out routine communication.
Government Chief Spokesperson Gerson Msigwa said on social media that officials had delivered a notice letter to Jamii Forums as part of normal procedures.
“No raid took place at the Jamii Forums offices. What happened is part of routine communication between Government Authorities and their stakeholders,” he said.
Msigwa urged Jamii Forums co-founder Maxence Melo not to cause unnecessary alarm and to cooperate with authorities.
