Biteko highlights ten years of development gains in Bukombe

Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) parliamentary candidate for Bukombe constituency, Dr. Doto Mashaka Biteko, has praised what he described as a decade of transformative progress in the district, crediting the achievements to the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan and the ruling party’s development agenda.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Katente Ward on September 27, Dr. Biteko said that compared to 2015, Bukombe has made notable improvements in education, health, infrastructure, and energy access.

“At that time, Katente, Igulwa, and other wards were lagging behind. The district had only one A-level secondary school, a single hospital, four dispensaries, and electricity in just seven villages. Today, the story is very different,” he said.

He pointed to major projects currently underway, including the construction of the District Commissioner’s office, the district council headquarters, a modern market, and a bus terminal.

“President Samia has allocated funds for the Ushirombo–Katoro tarmac road, permitted small-scale miners to operate in Kigosi Forest, and ensured electricity has reached all villages,” he added.

Dr. Biteko said investment in higher learning institutions is also advancing. “We are building a VETA training centre and a university campus. These projects will circulate money within the local economy and create opportunities for growth. People are not looking for empty promises, they want development and President Samia is determined to deliver that change in Bukombe.”

He urged the 19,000 registered voters in Katente to come out on October 29 and vote for President Samia, CCM councillors, and himself to consolidate the progress made.

While addressing supporters in Bulangwa Ward, Dr. Biteko cited additional projects delivered under CCM, including a school for children with special needs, a new A-level secondary school, Bulangwa Secondary School, a large community hall, and a health centre.

He also noted ongoing plans to expand electricity access and complete a modern football stadium.

“As MP, I am pleased with the work of Councillor Yusuf Mohammed Yusuf. He has demonstrated commitment to advancing people’s welfare. I ask Bulangwa’s 15,504 registered voters to give him a strong mandate so he can continue serving the community,” Dr. Biteko said.

Katente councillor candidate Tabu Ngwahani also highlighted achievements in her ward, including the construction of classrooms at Igulwa, Bomani, Umoja, Bwenda, and Katente primary schools.

She said additional funding has been secured for a modern market, bus stand, and sports ground, alongside TZS300 million for hospital construction and TZS900 million for new facilities, including an operating theatre.

Meanwhile, Bulangwa councillor candidate Yusuf Mohammed Yusuf expressed gratitude to Dr. Biteko for allocating TZS350 million to build Kilimahewa Secondary School.

He said plans were underway to construct a new Muungano Primary School, expand road networks, and extend electricity supply to Kilimahewa and Muungano hamlets.
