Speaker of the National Assembly and former Mbeya Urban MP, Dr Tulia Ackson, has picked up nomination forms to contest for the newly created Uyole Constituency in the October general election.
Dr Tulia collected the forms on August 25, 2025, at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices in Mbeya City, marking the start of her bid to represent the constituency for the first time.
“This is not a campaign rally but simply an opportunity to accompany and celebrate the form collection process. The time for campaigns will come,” she said after the exercise.
The CCM candidate underscored the party’s commitment to securing victory across all positions, from councillors and MPs to the presidency.
“We have campaigns for MPs and councillors, but also for President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who is seeking another mandate from Tanzanians. When campaigns begin, we must work hard to deliver overwhelming votes. We should also thank President Samia for giving us the new Uyole Constituency,” Dr Tulia said.
Dr Salina, who contested in the CCM primaries for Uyole but lost, congratulated Dr Tulia and said the process gave her valuable experience.
“I have gained enough experience and believe I will be better prepared in the future. This is our party; we need unity to succeed, and I fully support Dr Tulia,” she noted.
Residents have welcomed the move, expressing confidence in her leadership. “Our constituency now has a chance for strong representation.
Dr Tulia understands the people’s challenges and treats everyone equally,” said Furaha Atu, a local resident.
