Thousands of Tanzanians gathered at Tanganyika Packers Grounds in Dar es Salaam on Thursday as Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) officially launched its presidential campaign ahead of the 2025 General Election.
The event was presided over by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, CCM’s presidential flagbearer, who entered the venue to a rousing welcome from party members, supporters, and dignitaries.
She was accompanied by her running mate, Dr. Emanuel Nchimbi, marking the official start of CCM’s nationwide campaign trail.
The atmosphere was filled with chants, songs, and dances in green and yellow, the signature colours of CCM, as crowds from across the country gathered to express support.
Party officials described the launch as a demonstration of the ruling party’s enduring influence and its wide grassroots network.
Speaking at the rally, senior CCM leaders underscored the party’s commitment to stability, development, and continuity under President Samia’s leadership.
They urged Tanzanians to back the party’s agenda, which they said builds on decades of governance while addressing new challenges facing the nation.
President Samia is seeking a second term in office, with the campaign expected to highlight her government’s achievements over the past four years, including economic growth, infrastructure expansion, social services, and diplomacy.
With the launch, CCM now embarks on an intensive campaign tour across the regions, engaging voters and outlining its vision for the next five years.
The party’s leaders expressed confidence that the strong turnout in Dar es Salaam signals momentum ahead of the polls.
