Tanzania and Japan have renewed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in youth development, with a focus on equipping young people with the skills needed for national growth.

The move followed a high-level meeting on August 27, 2025, in Dar es Salaam between the Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office for Labour, Youth, Employment, and Persons with Disabilities, Ridhwan Jakaya Kikwete, and Japan’s Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Gemba Koichiro.

During the talks, both sides highlighted the importance of long-term partnerships in education, technical training, and skills development programs that target young Tanzanians.

Kikwete stressed that investing in youth is central to Tanzania’s development agenda, pointing out that international collaboration can accelerate innovation, entrepreneurship, and employment opportunities.

Hon. Koichiro reaffirmed Japan’s support for Tanzania’s youth initiatives, promising to expand programs that promote technical skills, knowledge exchange, and cultural understanding.

He emphasized that empowering youth today builds leaders for tomorrow.

The two leaders agreed to strengthen existing projects and explore new initiatives that will foster youth leadership, capacity building, and sustainable development, reinforcing the decades-long partnership between Tanzania and Japan.
