The Tanzania Cities Infrastructure Development Project (TACTIC) is transforming Dodoma’s urban landscape, providing solutions to long-standing challenges and improving public services, the Executive Director of Dodoma City, Dr. Fredrick Sagamiko, has said.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Dr. Sagamiko highlighted that the project includes the construction of 10.19 kilometers of new roads, which will make it easier for residents to access services while reducing transportation and logistics costs.

He also revealed that the modern building market is under construction. Traders who previously faced difficult working conditions will soon operate in a contemporary facility, complete with parking areas, accommodating up to 875 business operators.

“The arrival of this project is a major relief for residents. The old building market did not meet Dodoma’s standards, but now we are getting a modern market that matches the city’s profile,” Dr. Sagamiko said.

Other key developments include water drainage systems in Ilazo, a new Daladala bus terminal in Nzuguni, and a modern auction market.

Dr. Sagamiko noted that Nzuguni, a densely populated area, requires the bus terminal to improve commuter convenience.

Local traders have welcomed the project. Ms. Rozy Mtundu, a building market trader, said the new market will boost their businesses by providing a modern and supportive trading environment.

Mr. Laurent Munish, another trader, commended the government for addressing long-standing challenges that previously caused difficulties for traders, noting that these issues will be resolved with the new market.

Residents are also praising the construction of the Mkalama road. Mr. Hamza Zuberi said the project will enhance property values and ease transportation, benefiting both residents and businesses.
