President Samia Suluhu Hassan has reshuffled senior government officials and appointed a new ambassador as part of a broader effort to strengthen public institutions and diplomatic missions.
In a statement issued by Chief Secretary Ambassador Dr. Moses Kusiluka on Sunday, the President named Dr. Khatibu Malimi Kazungu as the new Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS) for Dodoma.
Dr. Kazungu previously served as Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy.
President Samia also retained key board leaders for another term, signaling her confidence in their stewardship.
Prof. Ulingeta Obadia Mbamba will continue to chair the Board of Directors of the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TANTRADE), while Prof. Aurelia Kokulitage Ngirwa Kamuzora will remain Chairperson of the National Economic Empowerment Council (NEEC).
In the defense sector, Retired Lieutenant General Charles Lawrence Makakala has been appointed as Chairperson of the Board of Mzinga Corporation, the country’s military industrial facility.
On the diplomatic front, the President has posted Ambassador Anderson Gukwi Mutatembwa to Japan, where he is expected to advance Tanzania’s economic diplomacy and technical cooperation with one of its key global partners.
In a significant institutional shake-up, President Samia also dissolved the Board of Trustees of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).
The move reflects her administration’s focus on improving governance and accountability in social protection systems.
The appointments reflect a push for continuity in economic reforms while also injecting fresh leadership where needed.
The changes come at a time when the government is intensifying its drive to boost productivity, attract investment, and ensure efficient public service delivery.
