Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila has commended the high turnout and level of preparedness at the Eastern Zone Nane Nane Agricultural Exhibitions, calling it a reflection of the growing seriousness with which Tanzanians are embracing agricultural transformation.
Speaking during his visit to the exhibition grounds in Morogoro on August 6, 2025, RC Chalamila toured several booths showcasing innovations and services from farmers, livestock keepers, fishers, government institutions, local councils, and private companies.
“The level of participation this year is impressive. It reflects a growing commitment among stakeholders to push for transformation in agriculture, livestock and fisheries,” he said.
Chalamila noted that the significant strides being witnessed in the sector are a direct result of the government’s deliberate efforts—particularly under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
“Through the Ministry of Agriculture, President Samia has delivered the largest budget allocation to this sector in the country’s history. This shows strong political will and a clear agenda to transform agriculture into a modern, productive, and sustainable sector,” said Chalamila.
As Tanzania heads toward the 2025 General Election, Chalamila used the platform to underscore the importance of leadership in shaping meaningful policy outcomes.
“Good policies are not accidental—they are the product of good leadership. I urge every citizen to participate in the upcoming elections and make informed choices.
As this year’s theme reminds us: Choose Good Leaders for Sustainable Development in Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries,” he said.
The Eastern Zone Nane Nane Exhibitions bring together participants from Dar es Salaam, Morogoro, Coast, and Tanga regions. While each zone hosts its own event, the 2025 national-level Nane Nane celebrations are being held in Dodoma.
Nane Nane, which means “Eight Eight” in Swahili, is observed annually on August 8 to honour and recognise the contribution of farmers to Tanzania’s economy and development.
