Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Vice President’s Office (Environment), Professor Peter Msofe, has commended the National Environment Management Council (NEMC) for spearheading efforts to promote sustainable agricultural practices at the Nane Nane agricultural exhibition taking place in Nzuguni, Dodoma.

During his visit to the NEMC pavilion, Prof Msofe expressed satisfaction with the Council’s public outreach, particularly its focus on educating farmers, fishers, and livestock keepers on environmentally friendly production techniques.

He said the integration of environmental protection in farming, fishing, and livestock activities is key to achieving the country's sustainable development goals.

“I am impressed by NEMC’s practical demonstrations and the environmental education they are offering to the public. This kind of awareness is essential if we are to protect our natural resources while ensuring food security and economic resilience,” he said.

Prof Msofe urged NEMC to intensify its nationwide environmental education campaigns in line with the Environmental Management Act, stressing that knowledge and enforcement must go hand in hand.

The Nane Nane exhibition, held annually from August 1 to 8, brings together stakeholders from agriculture, environment, research institutions, and the private sector to showcase innovations, share knowledge, and engage with farmers on modern practices that support both productivity and sustainability.
