President Samia Chairs CCM Central Committee to endorse election candidates

By The Respondent Reporter

Chairperson of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) and President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, is today chairing a Central Committee meeting of the party’s National Executive Council in Dodoma, where candidates for this year’s General Election were endorsed.

The session, held at CCM headquarters, focused on approving nominees for parliamentary seats in the National Assembly, women’s special seats, and members of the Zanzibar House of Representatives, including those representing special seats.

The Central Committee’s endorsement marks a critical step in the ruling party’s preparations for the polls, as CCM positions itself to maintain its dominance both on the mainland and in Zanzibar.

President Samia, who is leading CCM into her first re-election campaign since assuming office in 2021, underscored the importance of unity and transparency in the selection process.

The approved candidates are expected to be unveiled to the public in the coming days, paving the way for official campaigns once the National Electoral Commission (NEC) sets the timeline.
