Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has called on non-governmental organizations, the private sector, and faith-based institutions to strengthen collaboration with the government in delivering humanitarian services.
Speaking on his behalf at the World Humanitarian Day commemoration in Dodoma on August 19, 2025, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliament and Coordination), William Lukuvi, said enhanced cooperation will ensure effective coordination, accountability, and disaster response.
He underscored the importance of educating the public on disaster preparedness, noting that awareness remains a key tool in minimizing losses.
“Some disasters cannot be avoided, but citizens must be guided to follow expert advice to reduce their impact,” he said.
Mr. Lukuvi also urged citizens to take part in environmental conservation campaigns, stressing that protecting natural resources is vital in addressing climate-related disasters. He reminded Tanzanians to adopt clean energy as part of the national effort to safeguard the environment.
Turning to the upcoming general election set for October 29, 2025, he appealed to voters to participate fully in choosing leaders at all levels. “Voting is both a right and a responsibility, and through it we can secure leaders who will fast-track the nation’s development,” he noted.
World Humanitarian Day is marked annually on August 19. This year’s theme is “Enhancing Humanitarian Services and Building Resilience Against Disasters.”
