Incumbent councillor Omary Kumbilamoto formally submitted his nomination to defend his seat in Vingunguti Ward under the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) today.
Accompanied by a large crowd of supporters, Kumbilamoto collected the nomination form at the ward office at around 9:40 a.m., under the supervision of CCM Ward Secretary, Mrs. Agatha.
Speaking after submitting the form, Kumbilamoto expressed strong confidence in winning the upcoming election.
He cited his achievements over the past five years, which he said have improved infrastructure, health services, markets, and access to basic services in the ward.
“In the last five years, we have made significant progress in Vingunguti. We have upgraded roads, provided an ambulance for the local dispensary, built a modern nyama choma market, slaughterhouses, and new water tanks. We have also engaged closely with residents to address their individual needs,” Kumbilamoto said.
He added that CCM welcomes candidates from other parties to contest freely, stressing that elections should focus on ideas and constructive debate rather than insults or provocation.
Kumbilamoto’s nomination marks the start of what promises to be a competitive race in one of Dar es Salaam’s busiest wards.
