The Mining Commission has directed all mineral license holders and service providers in Tanzania’s mining sector to comply with new reporting requirements on local content and corporate social responsibility (CSR), starting August 29, 2025.
The directive requires companies to submit detailed information on how they involve Tanzanians in mining activities and meet their community obligations.
Reports must be filed through the Local Content and Corporate Social Responsibility Management Information System (LCCSR-MIS), an online platform introduced to streamline compliance and improve transparency.
“The system aims to simplify the process of submitting reports and ensure that stakeholders meet their obligations to local communities,” said the Commission in a statement signed by Executive Secretary Eng. Aziza Z. Swedi.
Failure to comply could affect a company’s ability to maintain its operating license, as local participation and community investment are legal obligations under Tanzania’s mining laws.
