Dodoma Regional Commissioner, Ms Rosemery Staki Senyamule, has called on HAZINA Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (HAZINA SACCOS) to scale up its outreach initiatives in order to reach more public servants across the country.
She said many public employees still lacked awareness of the benefits offered by the cooperative, stressing the need for intensified financial literacy efforts.
Ms Senyamule made the remarks during her visit to the Ministry of Finance pavilion at the ongoing Nane Nane National Agricultural Exhibition taking place at Nzuguni Grounds in Dodoma.
The event is held under the theme: “Choose the Right Leaders for Sustainable Agricultural and Fisheries Development by 2025.”
“Many civil servants are yet to understand the advantages of joining HAZINA SACCOS. The leadership must ensure this information reaches more people so that they, too, can benefit from affordable financial services and improve their livelihoods,” she said.
She advised the cooperative to diversify its awareness strategies, including public meetings, radio and television broadcasts, and social media campaigns, in order to broaden its reach and enable more public servants to access soft loans and reduce dependence on high-interest informal lenders.
During the visit, HAZINA SACCOS Service Officer, Ms Leah Nkinda, said the organisation had recently introduced two new loan products—Tuliza Moyo and Ajira Mpya—targeted at improving the financial stability of government employees.
She explained that the Tuliza Moyo loan is interest-free and specifically designed to assist public servants facing emergency financial needs.
The loan ranges from Sh300,000 to Sh1 million and is processed within 24 working hours, with a repayment period of one month.
In addition, she said the Ajira Mpya loan is aimed at newly recruited government employees who have been in service for less than six months. The loan is intended to help them meet basic needs during the early stages of their employment.
HAZINA SACCOS is among the financial institutions participating under the Ministry of Finance at the Nane Nane exhibition, which brings together various stakeholders to showcase innovations and share ideas for sustainable development in agriculture and related sectors.
