The government has reaffirmed that sporting activities within the public service are an essential tool for promoting discipline, teamwork, and productivity, as preparations intensify for the 2025 Inter-Ministerial Games (SHIMIWI) to be held in Mwanza from September 1.

Speaking in Dodoma, the Director of Administration and Human Resources at the Ministry of Energy, Ms. Ziana Mlawa, said participation in sports is part of the government’s broader vision to ensure civil servants remain physically fit, mentally strong, and professionally accountable.

“Sports are not just for recreation. They are a government platform for enhancing health, confidence, and teamwork. This contributes directly to how civil servants deliver services to citizens,” Ms. Mlawa said.

She reminded participants that SHIMIWI is an extension of the workplace and urged them to uphold the values of professionalism, discipline, and integrity that the government expects of its workforce.

“Even though the games take place outside the office environment, remember that you are on duty. You represent not only your ministry but the entire government,” she stressed.

Ms. Mlawa also encouraged participants to strive for victory, noting that success would reflect the government’s commitment to excellence and bring pride to public institutions across the country.
