The government, stakeholders, and the public have been urged to support Tanzania’s national football team for people with disabilities, the Tembo Warriors, ahead of the CECAFA tournament set for September in Bujumbura, Burundi.
Head coach Ivo Mapunda emphasized that adequate preparation is key for the team to proudly represent the nation in the regional competition.
“The team urgently needs sports equipment, including balls and jerseys, as well as financial support to cover training and travel expenses,” Mapunda said.
He appealed to stakeholders, the government, and citizens to step forward and assist the team, which faces significant challenges such as lack of allowances and travel funding.
“The players are training with high morale and full dedication, determined to perform at their best and raise the national flag with pride,” Mapunda added.
With continued public support, the Tembo Warriors aim to demonstrate their skill, teamwork, and resilience on the CECAFA stage.
