The British High Commission in Tanzania has officially opened applications for the Chevening Scholarships for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The application window opened on 5 August and will close on 7 October 2025. Chevening is a prestigious UK Government scholarship programme that provides fully funded opportunities for exceptional professionals from Tanzania and around the world to pursue a one-year master’s degree at any university in the United Kingdom.
The Chevening programme is designed to support individuals who have demonstrated academic excellence, strong leadership potential, and a commitment to creating positive change in their communities.
Since its inception, the programme has built a global alumni network of over 60,000 individuals, including many Tanzanians who are now making significant contributions in government, business, education, media, and civil society.
The scholarship covers full tuition fees, living expenses, return airfare to the UK, and additional allowances.
It also offers recipients access to a wide range of exclusive academic, cultural, and leadership experiences.

To be eligible, applicants must be Tanzanian citizens, hold an undergraduate degree, and have at least two years of work experience.
They must commit to returning to Tanzania for a minimum of two years after completing their studies. Applicants should not have previously studied in the UK on a UK government-funded scholarship. There is no age limit, and professionals from all sectors are encouraged to apply.
Interested candidates are required to select three eligible UK master’s programmes and apply directly to the respective universities.
