Ahead of the 2025 general elections, 16 candidates for parliamentary seats and 69 aspirants for councilor positions have officially been nominated in Ilemela Constituency under their respective political parties.
Ilemela Constituency Election Officer, Mr. Herbert Bilia, announced today that of the 17 parliamentary aspirants who collected nomination forms, one candidate from ADA-TADEA was disqualified for failing to submit the completed forms by the 10:00 AM deadline on August 27, 2025.
At the councilor level, 12 candidates out of 81 were not cleared. One lacked valid sponsors, while 11 others missed the submission deadline.
Mr. Bilia congratulated all successfully nominated candidates and urged them to conduct their campaigns in strict compliance with electoral laws and regulations.
He also reminded residents that, according to the official 2025 election calendar, campaign activities begin nationwide today, August 28, 2025.
He encouraged citizens to actively participate, listen to candidates’ manifestos, and make informed decisions, noting that elections are key to choosing leaders who will uphold peace, stability, and development in their communities.
The 16 political parties with nominated candidates in Ilemela include: CCK, DP, NLD, AAFP, SAU, MAKINI, UMD, N.R.A, ACT, UPDP, UDP, CUF, NCCR-MAGEUZI, ADC, CCM, and CHAUMMA.
