Zara Tanzania Adventures, a renowned international tourism company headquartered in Moshi, has officially launched the fifth season of its flagship mountain climbing campaign, Twenzetu Kileleni, in celebration of the 64th anniversary of Tanganyika’s independence.
The campaign, which aims to promote domestic tourism, commemorate Tanzania’s historical journey to independence, and stimulate economic activity through the tourism sector, was unveiled on Monday, July 1, 2025, at Springlands Hotel in Moshi.
The event attracted key stakeholders from the tourism industry, government officials, and development partners.
Speaking during the launch, Zara Tanzania Managing Director Zainab Ansell said the initiative continues to serve as a platform for promoting patriotism and unity among Tanzanians, while also inviting international participants to experience the symbolic climb to the "Roof of Africa" Mount Kilimanjaro.
"Twenzetu Kileleni is not just a climb; it is a celebration of our national identity, a tribute to our freedom, and a call to Tanzanians to rediscover the beauty and pride of our country," said Ansell.
Since its inception, the campaign also known as Twenzetu Pamoja has inspired hundreds of Tanzanians and foreign visitors to scale Africa’s highest peak as a demonstration of solidarity and a renewed commitment to national cohesion.
Ansell noted that this year’s edition coincides with broader efforts by the government and private sector to promote sustainable tourism, especially in the wake of recovery from global economic shocks that affected the travel and hospitality industry.
"By encouraging local tourism, we are not only boosting the economy but also empowering communities that rely on tourism-related activities," she added.
Zara Tanzania, a multi-award-winning tour operator, has been at the forefront of advancing responsible tourism practices in Tanzania, with a special focus on environmental conservation and community empowerment.
The Twenzetu Kileleni campaign is expected to culminate in a symbolic summit climb involving a diverse group of climbers, including youth, professionals, and tourism ambassadors, reflecting the spirit of national unity and resilience that defined Tanganyika’s journey to independence in 1961.
