The captain of Tanzania’s national women’s football team, Twiga Stars, Opa Clement, has declared that the team is in high spirits and fully prepared to compete in the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), set to kick off on July 5 in Morocco.
Speaking from Morocco, where the team is currently camped for final preparations, Clement said the squad is well-organized, mentally focused, and physically ready to represent the nation at the prestigious continental tournament.
“Our morale is high, and we are ready. We’ve gone through serious preparations, including several friendly matches that helped us identify areas for improvement,” said Clement.
“The technical bench, led by the coach, has guided us well. We've been working hard on correcting our mistakes and strengthening our game plan.”she added
The midfielder emphasized that the team’s commitment is stronger than ever and that each player understands the weight of the task ahead.
“This tournament means everything to us. We are not just going to participate — we are going to compete. We are determined to make our mark and make Tanzanians proud.”
Clement urged fans back home to keep the team in their thoughts and prayers.
“We ask all Tanzanians to pray for us and support us from wherever they are. Your encouragement gives us strength, and we promise to fight with everything we have.”
Twiga Stars will be looking to make history at this year’s WAFCON, with eyes set on progressing further than ever before in the competition.
