The leadership of the Tanzania Volleyball Federation (TVF) has urged young players competing in the ongoing National Volleyball League (TVNL) to fully utilize the platform to showcase their talent and potential for future national team selection.
The league, which kicked off on July 25, is being held at the MwembeYanga grounds in Dar es Salaam and is scheduled to conclude on August 1. It has attracted teams from across the country and is already delivering exciting performances and competitive matches.
Speaking to The Respondent Online, TVF Deputy Secretary General Shukuru Ally said the technical team, under the guidance of the national head coach, is actively scouting for talent during the league in preparation for forming the next national team to represent Tanzania in upcoming international tournaments.
“We are using this league to identify promising players,” said Ally. “This is a golden opportunity for young athletes to demonstrate their skills, because the coach is watching closely with the aim of building a strong national team for tomorrow.”
Ally applauded team leaders and veteran players for creating space for youth to gain exposure at such a significant level of competition.
He also highlighted the increased level of competitiveness in this year’s league compared to previous editions, noting that the presence of new teams has raised the standard of play and challenged long-established teams, particularly those from Dar es Salaam.
“This year’s league has taken a new turn,” he said. “Some of the new teams participating for the first time—have performed exceptionally well, defeating experienced teams from Dar es Salaam. What’s more impressive is that most of these upcountry teams don’t even have regular leagues in their regions.”
According to Ally, the competitiveness has made it difficult to predict who will emerge as champions this year.
“Unlike in previous years where one could easily tell who would take the trophy, this time it’s wide open. Every team has come well-prepared, and that makes the league even more exciting,” he added.
The TVNL continues to draw fans and stakeholders who are eager to witness the rise of a new generation of volleyball talent that could shape Tanzania’s future on the international stage.
