The Chairperson of Tanzania’s Mining Commission, Dr. Janet R. Lekashingo, has led a high-level delegation to the Ministry of Minerals pavilion at the 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), spotlighting the country’s commitment to transparency, public engagement, and investment promotion in the extractive sector.

Accompanied by fellow Commissioners Eng. Theonestina Mwasha and Dr. Theresia Numbi, Dr. Lekashingo commended the Ministry for its robust presence at the fair, which is being held at the Mwalimu J.K. Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds.

The Ministry’s pavilion features a strong institutional lineup including the Mining Commission itself, the Tanzania Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (TEITI), the Tanzania Gemmological Centre (TGC), and the State Mining Corporation (STAMICO).

The exhibition also brings together private and community stakeholders, including the Federation of Miners’ Associations of Tanzania (FEMATA), the Tanzania Women Miners Association (TAWOMA), and Yaya Resources Limited  collectively reflecting the diversity and depth of Tanzania’s mineral sector.

“This platform provides an opportunity not only to inform the public about our regulatory and investment frameworks, but also to engage directly with citizens and investors on the vast opportunities Tanzania offers,” said Dr. Lekashingo.

She urged the Ministry to continue expanding its communication strategies, particularly across digital platforms, to strengthen both domestic and international outreach.

In a show of inter-sectoral cooperation, the delegation also visited other major pavilions, including the “Made in Tanzania” showcase and the Equal Opportunities for All Trust Fund (EOTF), where local enterprise initiatives and inclusive development programmes were on display.

The delegation was received by TanTrade Director General Latifa M. Khamis, who welcomed the mining team and underlined the importance of cross-sector collaboration in advancing Tanzania’s industrialisation and export-led growth agenda.

The Ministry of Minerals’ active participation at Sabasaba not only highlights its strategic role in Tanzania’s economic future but also reinforces the government’s focus on responsible resource management, local value addition, and investor confidence.
