Tanzania is set to open its campaign in the CECAFA Beach Soccer Championship with a match against Seychelles on July 16, 2025, in Mombasa, Kenya.

The tournament, organized by the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA), will run from July 16 to 20 and features two competitive groups.

Group A includes host nation Kenya, Malawi, and Zanzibar, while Group B comprises Tanzania, Uganda, and Seychelles.

Ahead of the tournament, Tanzania national beach soccer player Hamadi Mashinga expressed confidence in the team's preparations and readiness to compete at a high level.

“We’ve trained well and are ready to face any team in our group. Every player understands the importance of this tournament, and we’re all committed to giving our best to deliver results for the country,” said Mashinga.

He stressed that the team is going into the competition with clear goals and the determination to fight for every point.

“Tanzania is one of the strongest teams in the CECAFA region. We’re not just participating—we’re going to demonstrate our strength and competitiveness. Group B is tough, but we’re prepared for the challenge,” he added.

Mashinga also pointed out that the FIFA and CAF rankings among Group B teams are closely matched, which sets the stage for a highly competitive group phase.

“Tanzania currently leads in the rankings, followed by Uganda and Seychelles. That means every match will demand our full focus and effort.”he added

With growing interest in beach soccer across Africa, Tanzania hopes to use the tournament not only to assert its dominance in the region but also to build momentum toward qualifying for future continental and global events.
