The Dar es Salaam Basketball League (BDL) is set to resume on July 10, 2025, following a brief suspension to allow participation in the recently concluded CRDB Taifa Cup.
The national tournament, which brought together regional teams from both mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, wrapped up on July 4 in Dodoma. In light of this, BDL organizers had temporarily halted league activities to give way to the national event.
Speaking to The Respondent Online, Haleluya Kavalambi, the Director of Technical and Competitions at the Dar es Salaam Basketball Association, confirmed the league’s return and said the pause also served as a recovery window for players who had represented their respective regions.
“The break gave our players time to rest after competing for their regional teams,” said Kavalambi. “We are now fully focused on completing the remaining fixtures of the 2025 season.”
He added that all participating teams are actively preparing and that the association is satisfied with the level of readiness.
“Our league officially returns on July 10. We invite basketball fans from across Dar es Salaam to come out and support their teams. We expect an even higher level of competition as coaches have had time to reflect and refine their strategies,” he said.
Kavalambi concluded by encouraging the public to turn up in large numbers and enjoy what promises to be an exciting second half of the season.
