Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) has donated TZS 400 million as the main sponsor of the 2025 Nanenane National Agricultural Exhibition, marking a decade of the bank’s contribution to transforming the country’s farming sector through affordable financing.
The symbolic cheque was handed over on July 31 in Dodoma, where senior government officials praised the bank’s role in supporting smallholder farmers with concessional loans for agricultural inputs and mechanization.
“This year’s Nanenane coincides with the 10th anniversary of TADB, which has significantly impacted the agriculture sector,” said the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Jerald Mweli.
According to him, the bank has been instrumental in enabling farmers to increase productivity through access to affordable credit.”
Mr. Mweli noted that the exhibition will feature agricultural forums, financial services from institutions, and farmer education sessions focused on improving yields and agribusiness practices.
TADB Managing Director Mr. Frank Nyabundege said the bank’s progress is rooted in strong political support under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
“Agriculture employs over 70 percent of Tanzania’s population and remains critical to the country’s economic growth,” said Mr. Nyabundege.
TADB, he said, collaborates with 19 partner banks to offer soft loans designed to enhance productivity across the agricultural value chain.
He added that since 2021, TADB has expanded its asset base to TZS 1.2 trillion, while total lending by financial institutions to the agriculture sector has reached over TZS 4 trillion.
The Nanenane Exhibition is Tanzania’s largest annual agribusiness fair, held every August. It attracts thousands of stakeholders from across East Africa to showcase innovations, share knowledge, and build partnerships across the farming, livestock, and fisheries sectors.
