The Regional Commissioner for Singida, Halima Dendego, has commended the impact of the Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (SEQUIP) in transforming the region’s education sector, calling on residents to protect the infrastructure to ensure long-term benefits.

“We are witnessing real transformation in education,” said RC Dendego during a regional education assessment held on July 25, 2025.

“Through SEQUIP, we have constructed 30 new ward secondary schools, and this has played a key role in improving the academic performance of our students.”

She said the government's efforts, under the leadership of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, have created opportunities that were previously unavailable in many communities.

“The Form Four pass rate in Singida has risen from 87 percent in 2021 to 93 percent in 2024. That’s progress we cannot ignore,” she emphasized.

Dendego revealed that, as part of the implementation of the ruling party CCM’s 2020–2025 manifesto, the region has received TZS 25.06 billion for education development projects.

“This investment is not just in buildings, it is in the future of our children and our nation,” she noted.

She also highlighted the construction of Solya Girls’ Secondary School in Manyoni District, which cost TZS 4.5 billion, saying the school is instrumental in expanding access to science education for girls.

“More girls are now pursuing science subjects because they have a safe and well-equipped school environment,” she said.

In addition to the 30 ward schools and Solya Girls’ School, Dendego said the government has also built two vocational secondary schools Kitukutu in Iramba District and Unyambwa in Singida Municipality.

“These schools are equipping students with practical skills that will prepare them for employment and entrepreneurship,” she explained.

She urged the public to take ownership of the facilities. “This is not just government property — it is our shared responsibility. Let’s ensure that these schools are protected and maintained for the benefit of current and future generations,” she said.

“President Samia’s vision for inclusive and quality education is clear. No child should be left behind,” she concluded.
