Dar es Salaam. Former Simba Sports Club captain Mohammed Hussein, popularly known as Zimbwe Jr, has officially confirmed his departure from the Msimbazi giants ahead of the 2025/2026 season.

The veteran left-back, who served the club for more than a decade, took to social media to express gratitude to Simba for the years of trust and support. He described his journey with the club as a mix of triumphs and trials, highlighting the emotional connection he built over 11 seasons.

“It’s been almost 11 years of joy, smiles, celebrations, and some moments of sorrow inside the Simba family,” wrote Hussein.

Reflecting on his time at the club, Hussein emphasized commitment and professionalism as his guiding principles throughout his career.

“With great trust, utmost professionalism, hard work, and relentless commitment to the badge, I fought for this club’s success. My decision to leave is purely based on personal growth, individual interests, and professional advancement. As the elders say, everything that has a beginning must have an end – and today, I say my official goodbye.”

He extended his heartfelt appreciation to the club’s leadership, coaching staff, and former teammates, as well as to the fans who supported him throughout his journey.

“I want to sincerely thank all the leaders, the technical and operations staff who were part of my journey at Simba. To the fans, thank you for standing with me.

Just as you have loved me, I love you too, and I believe you will continue supporting me. I also thank my management, led by Carlos Carlos, for their unwavering support.”

Meanwhile, Simba SC’s Media and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ally, addressed Hussein’s departure, stating that the decision was mutual and beneficial to both sides.

“This was the right time for Zimbwe Jr to leave, and equally the right time for the club to make changes in building a stronger Simba for the future,” Ally said via Instagram.

He acknowledged the player’s legacy at the club, assuring fans that Hussein will always be remembered and loved by the Msimbazi family.

“We still love him, and that love will remain forever. To our fans, do not be discouraged if he joins a rival club. Many players have taken that path before   there’s nothing unusual about it,” he added.

Hussein’s departure marks the end of an era at Simba SC, where he served with distinction and leadership both on and off the pitch.
