Twiga Stars crush Burundi 6-0 in CECAFA Women’s Championship

The Tanzanian national women's football team, known as the Twiga Stars, delivered a spectacular performance to crush Burundi 6-0 in the CECAFA Senior Women Championship match held yesterday, at the Azam Complex Stadium in Chamazi, Dar Es Salaam.

Tanzania wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Opa Clement opening the scoring just eight minutes into the game. 

Clement continued her impressive form by doubling the lead in the 31st minute, ensuring the Twiga Stars went into halftime with a comfortable 2-0 advantage.

The second half saw Tanzania maintain their relentless attacking pressure. In the 65th minute, Jamaila Rajabu extended the lead to three goals. Just five minutes later, Clara Luvanga added the fourth goal, further demoralizing the Burundian side.

The goals kept coming, with Diana Lucas finding the back of the net in the 73rd minute to make it 5-0. Stumai Abdallah sealed the emphatic victory with a sixth goal in the 78th minute, capping off a commanding display of skill and teamwork.

This dominant win strengthens Tanzania’s position in the CECAFA tournament, demonstrating their ambition and potential to lift the championship trophy. 

The Twiga Stars’ commanding performance today has certainly sent a strong message to their regional rivals.
