The Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC) and Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) have signed an agreement to support women and youth in agribusiness.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed 0n June 17, 2025 in Dar es Salaam, focuses on improving access to finance, training, and technical support for women and young people in the agriculture sector.

The agreement will be in force until May 31, 2027.

The MoU was signed by TWCC Executive Director Dr Mwajuma Hamza and TADB Managing Director Mr Frank. Nyabundege.

As part of the deal, the two institutions will identify about 800 women entrepreneurs involved in agriculture.

They will then design training based on the needs of these women. The training will focus on business development, markets, and the use of technology.

The agreement also aims to improve access to affordable loans. TADB will offer special financial services designed to meet the needs of women in agribusiness. In addition, technical support will be provided in areas such as meeting market standards and increasing productivity.

Dr. Hamza said the agreement is a step forward in addressing the challenges faced by women in agriculture.

“This agreement is a vital step toward removing barriers that limit women’s growth in agribusiness,” she said. “We believe we can now reach more women and support them to grow their businesses.”

Mr Nyabundege said empowering women and youth is key to agricultural development.

“TADB believes that inclusive financing is critical for growth in the agriculture sector. This partnership shows our commitment to ensuring that financial services benefit those who need them most,” he said.

The agreement supports Tanzania’s national goals of promoting gender equality and rural economic development.
