The Tanzania Volleyball Federation (TVF) has urged all teams, clubs, and officials set to participate in this year’s Tanzania Volleyball National League (TVNL) to ensure they are formally registered with the National Sports Council (BMT), as part of efforts to professionalize the sport and enhance its appeal.
This year’s edition of the TVNL is scheduled to begin on July 25, 2025, at the Mwembe Yanga Grounds in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking to The Respondent Online TVF President Eng. Magoti Mtani said the move is intended to promote the integrity and credibility of the league by ensuring that all participants are officially recognized by national sports authorities.
“We are calling on all teams and clubs participating in the league to make sure they are registered with BMT. This is not only a legal requirement, but also a step towards building a strong identity and brand for their clubs,” he said.
Eng. Mtani noted that when the current TVF leadership assumed office in 2021, they requested time from BMT to increase the number of competitive teams before enforcing mandatory registration. He now believes the time is right for full compliance.
“For the teams that have earned the opportunity to participate in the TVNL, registration with BMT is not optional. It’s a responsibility that comes with being part of a nationally recognized competition,” he emphasized.
He further explained that the 2025 TVNL matches will be broadcast live through Azam Media and YouTube, giving teams a valuable platform to showcase their talent and attract sponsors, supporters, and partners.
“Live broadcasts offer great exposure. That’s why we’re encouraging all clubs to invest in their branding and team identity to fully capitalize on this visibility,” he added.
In a separate development, Eng. Mtani revealed that Dar es Salaam will not compete in the league as a traditional region this year.
Instead, it will participate as a special zone, a decision based on the city’s high number of competitive volleyball teams and its elevated standard of play.
“The strength and depth of volleyball in Dar es Salaam is exceptional, and it deserves a unique status in the league structure,” he said.
TVNL is one of Tanzania’s most important volleyball competitions, drawing teams from across the country and serving as a key platform for identifying national talent.
