TRC adds extra Dodoma–Dar es Salaam train services to support Post-Bunge Travel

 By The Respondent Reporter

The Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) has announced the addition of special high-speed train services between Dodoma and Dar es Salaam on June 27 and 28, 2025.

These additional trips are aimed at easing passenger congestion following the conclusion of parliamentary activities in Dodoma, as large numbers of citizens, public officials, and business travelers return to Dar es Salaam and other regions.

The extra services will be operated by TRC’s modern Mchongoko trains, part of the country’s new Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) fleet under the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) system.

These trains are designed to offer fast, safe, and comfortable travel, significantly reducing journey time between major cities.

On June 27, the train will depart Dodoma at 1:20 a.m., while on June 28, the departure will be at 12:50 p.m.

TRC is advising all passengers to arrive at the station at least two hours before departure time to allow for a smooth boarding process and to avoid delays.

To ensure convenience and reduce queues, travelers are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance through the official TRC ticketing website (sgrticket.trc.co.tz) or at designated TRC stations across the country.

These additional services reflect TRC’s continued efforts to respond to citizens’ transportation needs, especially during high-demand periods.

With improved train frequency and modern facilities, TRC aims to provide Tanzanians with a reliable, affordable, and efficient alternative to road travel.

This initiative is also part of the government's broader strategy to strengthen public infrastructure and improve national mobility through modern railway services.

The enhanced train schedule not only supports individual travelers but also contributes to the country’s economic activity by ensuring the smooth movement of people across key urban centers.

TRC remains committed to delivering safe and timely services, and it will continue to monitor passenger needs in order to expand and adjust operations accordingly.

For updates and assistance, citizens are encouraged to contact TRC customer service or visit the Corporation’s official website at www.trc.co.tz.
