The Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) has declared the 2024/25 football season as the most competitive and well-organized in recent years, highlighting significant progress in the country’s top-tier football.
According to TPLB Communications Officer Karim Boimanda, the season was marked by strategic player signings that intensified competition and raised the overall quality of play across the league.
“This season has been remarkable. Clubs invested in top talents who have pushed each other to perform at their best, resulting in a highly competitive league,” Boimanda said.
He further explained that the board has gained valuable lessons from this campaign, which will be instrumental in enhancing the league’s management and ensuring the next season, 2025/26, surpasses the current one.
“We are encouraged by what we have achieved and are using these experiences to improve. After a short break, preparations for the next season will begin in earnest,” he added.
Boimanda also noted the unpredictable nature of the season, where teams previously expected to avoid relegation faced tough challenges, and the title race remained open until the closing stages.
“The league has matured. It’s no longer straightforward to predict the outcomes. The competition for both the championship and survival was intense until the very end,” he said.
The growing stature of the Tanzania Premier League on the African continent was another highlight. Boimanda observed that club leaders are increasingly scouting and signing players from across Africa, while several stars have already left to represent their national teams during the break.
“This trend reflects the rising profile of Tanzanian football and its appeal to quality African players,” he explained.
With these developments, the TPLB is optimistic that the 2025/26 season will deliver even more excitement and professionalism to football fans across the country.
