Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) has released its latest 24-hour weather forecast, effective from 9:00 PM on June 13, 2025, highlighting varied weather patterns across the country and issuing a strong wind and rough sea warning for coastal areas.
According to TMA, much of the country will experience partly cloudy skies interspersed with periods of sunshine and isolated light rain showers.
The Tanga region, including the Isles of Unguja and Pemba, will see partly cloudy conditions with occasional light showers and sunny intervals.
Similar conditions are expected in the Pwani region (including Mafia Isles), the northern highlands of Arusha, Kilimanjaro, and Manyara, as well as the coastal and southern regions of Dar es Salaam, Morogoro, Lindi, and Mtwara.
In central and western regions—Kigoma, Ruvuma, Tabora, Dodoma, and Singida—partly cloudy skies with intermittent sunshine will prevail.
The Lake Zone regions of Kagera, Geita, Mwanza, Simiyu, Mara, and Shinyanga, together with the southern highlands including Iringa, Njombe, Mbeya, Rukwa, Songwe, and parts of Ruvuma, will experience similar weather conditions.
TMA has issued a cautionary alert for strong winds exceeding 40 kilometres per hour and waves surpassing two metres along the Indian Ocean coastline. Affected areas include the coastal regions of Lindi, Mtwara, Tanga, Dar es Salaam, and Pwani (including Mafia Isles), as well as the islands of Unguja and Pemba. Mariners and coastal communities have been advised to exercise heightened vigilance due to the hazardous sea conditions.
The prevailing coastal winds are forecast to blow from the south at speeds reaching up to 50 kilometres per hour, further contributing to turbulent sea states.
Daytime temperatures are forecast to range from a low of 8°C in Njombe to a high of 31°C in Tabora. Coastal areas such as Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar are expected to experience warm daytime temperatures of 29–30°C, with relatively mild night temperatures.
Sunrise and sunset times will vary slightly across regions. For example, Arusha will witness sunrise at 6:36 AM and sunset at 6:30 PM, while Dar es Salaam’s daylight hours will run from 6:33 AM to 6:13 PM.
Looking ahead to Sunday, June 15, TMA predicts continued strong winds and sizeable waves along the coast. Authorities and residents have been urged to monitor updates regularly and take appropriate precautions as conditions evolve.
