Tanzania’s Envoy to Sweden emphasizes economic and diplomatic relations

Stockholm, Sweden– His Excellency Mobhare Matinyi, the newly appointed Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Kingdom of Sweden, officially presented his Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf during a formal ceremony at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

The occasion, preceded by a courtesy meeting at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, was marked by ceremonial honors, including an escort by the mounted Royal Guard. 

Ambassador Matinyi now formally assumes his role as Tanzania’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Sweden.

In his remarks to His Majesty, Ambassador Matinyi conveyed warm greetings from Her Excellency President Samia Suluhu Hassan and reiterated Tanzania’s commitment to deepening diplomatic ties with Sweden. 

He emphasized Tanzania’s interest in expanding bilateral cooperation in priority sectors such as trade and investment, tourism, education, health, energy, infrastructure, and climate resilience.

King Carl XVI Gustaf extended his greetings to President Hassan and affirmed Sweden’s continued collaboration with Tanzania, particularly in areas critical to sustainable development including manufacturing, energy, mining, tourism, and education.

Appointed on March 25, 2025, Ambassador Matinyi’s mandate extends beyond Sweden to include concurrent accreditation to Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, the Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, as well as Ukraine.
