Tanzania will host the World Travel Awards (WTA) Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony in Dar es Salaam on 28 June 2025,  bringing together leaders from the travel and tourism industry across the region.

This ceremony will be the first stop of the WTA Grand Tour 2025. Other events will take place in Cancun, Saint Lucia, Hong Kong, Sardinia, Dubai, and the final event will be held in Bahrain.

Tanzania is famous for its natural attractions, such as the Serengeti National Park, Mount Kilimanjaro, and the beaches of Zanzibar. These places attract many tourists and help grow the country’s economy.

Graham Cooke, Founder of the World Travel Awards, said Tanzania was chosen because it is one of Africa’s fastest-growing tourist destinations. He added that Tanzania continues to set records in visitor numbers and tourism revenue.

The event will be held at the Johari Rotana hotel in Dar es Salaam’s Central Business District. The hotel overlooks the Indian Ocean and is close to important city landmarks.

Ephraim Mafuru, Director General of the Tanzania Tourist Board, said hosting the event was a proud moment for the country. He said it was a chance to show the world Tanzania’s beautiful landscapes, diverse cultures, and warm hospitality.

The World Travel Awards ceremony will help raise Tanzania’s profile in the travel industry and promote tourism growth in Africa and the Indian Ocean region.
