The Election Committee of the Tanzania Athletics Federation (RT) has officially released the timeline and key dates for the events leading up to the federation’s general election, scheduled to take place on August 16, 2025, in Mwanza.
According to the Committee Chairperson, Leonard Thadeo, the process of collecting and submitting nomination forms for various leadership positions is currently underway, with the final deadline set for July 18, 2025.
Thadeo explained that after the submission deadline, the list of applicants will be published, followed by interviews for shortlisted candidates on July 20.
The committee will then process and announce the successful candidates. Handling of objections, appeals, and final decisions will take place between August 2 and 8.
“From August 9 to 16, all approved candidates will be allowed to campaign ahead of the general election. This will also allow the committee to finalize all election preparations,” Thadeo stated.
He emphasized that the federation is working to ensure that only legitimate and active regional delegates are eligible to vote in the upcoming polls.
Key positions up for election include the President and Vice President, with a nomination form fee of TSh 500,000 each. Candidates vying for Executive Committee Member positions will pay TSh 200,000, while there are also designated seats for special members.
The elections are expected to shape the future of athletics in Tanzania, with hopes high for transparent, fair, and competitive leadership renewal.
