The Government of Tanzania has reaffirmed its strong partnership with the Gates Foundation to further strengthen the country's health services and ensure better healthcare for all citizens.

This commitment was made clear on June 11, 2025, in Dar es Salaam by Dr. Vivian Wonanji, Health Sector Coordinator, during a high-level technical meeting involving the Ministry of Health, the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), and experts from the Gates Foundation and its partner organizations.

Dr. Wonanji explained that the discussions focused on key areas where the government and the Foundation can work together to improve healthcare delivery, with special attention to services for mothers and children.

“These discussions reflect the results of strong leadership from Her Excellency President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, whose efforts to transform the health sector have been recognized globally including the recent Gates Foundation Goalkeepers Award,” said Dr. Wonanji.

She added that the government is committed to ensuring that all health projects supported by development partners are implemented through national systems.

This approach will improve coordination, transparency, and impact ensuring that every investment aligns with Tanzania’s health priorities.

Both the Ministry of Health and PO-RALG expressed their sincere gratitude to the Gates Foundation and its partners for their ongoing support through expert advice and financial resources.

Their contribution is helping to build a stronger health system that guarantees access to quality care for every Tanzanian.
