The Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) has urged its staff to step up their efforts in revenue collection and service delivery as the new tourism season began in June.

Assistant Conservation Commissioner and Northern Zone Chief, Steria Ndaga, made the call during a high-level management meeting held on June 19, 2025.

The meeting brought together park managers, heads of accounting and tourism departments, and other key officials from TANAPA’s Northern Zone headquarters to review performance over the past eleven months.

Commissioner Ndaga emphasized the need to fully collect all government revenues from the parks to meet the authority’s financial targets.

She also highlighted the importance of cultivating a positive work culture, encouraging teamwork and creating a supportive environment to boost productivity.

“To achieve our goals, every employee must be committed to excellence, ensuring both efficient revenue collection and effective service delivery,” she said.

She further stressed the importance of timely and accurate reporting, noting that quick flow of information not only facilitates better decision-making but also contributes directly to achieving TANAPA’s strategic objectives.

“TANAPA’s success depends on how well we communicate and cooperate internally. Timely information sharing is key to addressing challenges and improving our operations,” Commissioner Ndaga added.

TANAPA manages 21 national parks across four zones, with the Northern Zone overseeing five key parks: Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Arusha, Kilimanjaro, and Mkomazi. These parks are major drivers of tourism revenue and vital to Tanzania’s economy.

With the tourism season underway, TANAPA’s leadership is confident that renewed focus and dedication from staff will enhance service quality and revenue generation, supporting the country’s broader economic growth.
