Dodoma– The Minister of State in the President’s Office for Public Service Management and Good Governance, George Simbachawene, has applauded the Tanzania Airports Authority (TAA) for its professionalism and continued efforts to improve the country’s air transport infrastructure, making it more accessible and efficient for citizens across Tanzania.
Speaking during his visit to the TAA pavilion at the ongoing Public Service Week exhibitions at Chinangali Park, Dodoma, Simbachawene highlighted the critical role TAA plays in national development, particularly through its management and expansion of key airports across the country.
The Minister was also the guest of honor at the official launch of the 2025 Public Service Week celebrations.
“TAA’s work is a clear example of how government institutions can serve citizens with dedication and expertise. Their projects are making it easier for Tanzanians to travel, do business, and connect with opportunities across the country and beyond,” Hon. Simbachawene said.
TAA currently oversees 61 government-owned airports, including major international hubs such as Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro International Airport.
These airports serve millions of passengers every year and are vital for economic growth, tourism, and emergency services.
Citizens in regions like Iringa, Mtwara, Dodoma, Mpanda, and Kahama are already experiencing the benefits of completed airport improvement projects. Meanwhile, ongoing development is underway at airports in Msalato, Tabora, Shinyanga, Musoma, Kigoma, Sumbawanga, Moshi, and Lake Manyara enhancing travel safety, reliability, and regional connectivity.
Mr. Jeff Shentiwa, representing the Acting Manager of Msalato Airport, briefed the Minister on TAA’s progress, explaining how these projects are tailored to improve the daily lives of Tanzanians by enabling faster, safer travel and boosting local economies.
This year’s Public Service Week theme, “Delivering Services to Citizens: A Commitment to Administrative Transformation in Africa,” emphasizes the importance of transparent, citizen-centered service.
TAA’s participation reflects its commitment to accountable governance and public service excellence.
For citizens, the improvements in airport infrastructure mean better access to essential services, easier movement for business and family, and more opportunities for regional and international engagement.
As TAA continues to invest in the future of air travel in Tanzania, the government encourages all public institutions to follow its example putting people first and ensuring that development is felt at every level of society.
